Sumi Ink on Clayboard

This class is designed to introduce participants to additive and subtractive techniques of drawing/painting by removing sumi ink from the surface of white Claybord, a product made by Ampersand. This method is similar to scratchboard technique, but is so much easier, forgiving, and faster! It’s a great way to learn about composition and all the elements of design. The addition of color will also be covered.

Virtual Mentoring & Instruction

If you are truly engaged in the process of learning HOW TO SEE, and committed to PRACTICE, the progress we can make is profound. I will be as committed as you are to sharing what I know with you. I’d love to hear what your goals are during a half hour free zoom consultation, and I will tell you up front if I think I can help.

You’ll send me images of your efforts by email one day before our first scheduled meeting time, as well as a $95 payment by PayPal for the upcoming lesson. Our meetings can vary in occurrence between 1-4 weeks, and you can stop our meetings at any point. In order to maintain momentum and progress, however, the number of weeks in between sessions should not exceed 4 weeks. Each lesson will consist of a review of your work, demonstrations if needed, and an assignment for the following session. You are welcome to email me between sessions if you have questions.

The application for mentoring is attached below, and I sincerely look forward to meeting you and learning more about you!
