Workshops and Classes

Private Classes in My Studio

StudioShotI named my studio “First Light Studio” for the special early morning light that illuminates the rock walls of Smith Rock State Park in Terrebonne, OR that is the view from my windows. You couldn’t ask for a more inspiring setting or more perfect place to play. If you  are thinking of visiting Central Oregon, why not schedule a private workshop to enhance your experience with a custom designed class in drawing, pastel, printmaking, or mixed media!

Workshops

WorkshopAdI will travel to you to teach a workshop, jury a concurrent art show and/or do a public demonstration. My goal is to help participants explore new ways of expressing their passions through art. I emphasize process rather than product, and believe the workshop setting is the place to try new things, learn from each other, and PLAY.

I offer 3 different kinds of workshops that you can mix and match to fit your group.

PASTEL INNOVATIONS: A 3-5 day workshop based on my book Pastel Innovations. Topics will include using pastels wet and dry, incorporating pastels with mixed media, and applying pastels to different kinds of underpaintings .

REDEFINING DRAWING: A 2-5 day workshop that presents innovative drawing techniques to make you think about “draw-ing” in a whole new way. This fun, fast paced class is for all levels. This workshop is a wonderful class all by itself, or can be combined with a 3 day class on monotype or pastel.

MONOTYPES & PASTEL:  A 3-5 day workshop that explores dark field, light field, assembled, trace and counterprint monotype as a ground for adding pastel and other media including pastel. This class can be done with or without the use of an etching press. but the process is hastened if a press is available.
