The elemental forces of earth, fire, air and water abound in this high desert plateau I live in. I look for places of power and strength, where forces forge their marks on the earth’s surface. This place has shaped my nature and my spirit, and has made me who I am now. Between the waterfalls and immense sky, rock cliffs and lava tubes, there are pastures and prairie grasses, but mostly there is juniper and sagebrush. I prefer the rough rocks and twisted, messy trees– not manicured perfection. The paths to beauty I look for are not on paved roads. Like my paintings, I am always bushwhacking through the process of making art to find the next treasure.
