Gallery of Horses

I first started painting horses after moving to the high desert plateau of Central Oregon. The horse sculptures by Deborah Butterfield inspired me to see the horse abstractly, and the photography of Robert Vavre encouraged an life-long obsession with  portraying them with unique colors and approaches. Horses seem to reflect the very minerals of the landscape they inhabit. They take my breath away as I watch them appear and disappear into the shadows like ghost ships on the desert sea.
